This simulation teaches basic
EEO Compliance relationships
and is designed to help students understand the
decisions associated with EEOC guidelines. This
simulation combines two metrics, compliance and
effectiveness, to help the user better understand issues
associated with managing the human resource function.

The simulation begins on Period 0 with 60
employees. A Distribution Report shows the distribution of
employees by type/minority and the Employee Data screen shows
several attributes for each employee. A distribution of the
population by type/minority can be displayed by selecting the
'Population' option from the Distribution Report Selection Box.
Also available for selection is the 'Utilization' option. This
option produces a report of the percentage (Under)/Over
utilization of employees relative to minority employment. Under
utilization percentages greater than 5% are shown in red.
Three decision buttons are available to control the overall
makeup of your workforce. Selecting the 'Hire
Manager' button allows you to add up to 2 mangers from a
pool of available managers. Selecting the 'Hire
Workers' button allows you to add up to 5 workers from a
pool of available workers. Selecting the 'Change
Employee' button allows you to change the status of up to
10 employees. These changes include training, promotion, layoff
and termination.
Use the 'Requirements'
button to show the expected number of employees by type for each
period in the simulation. Failing to meet these requirements
will lower your Effectiveness
score. Press the 'Simulate' button to begin
the simulation. The Results area is updated showing scores for
Compliance and
Effectiveness, and a display of the
number of employees leaving your firm (Turnover)
is registered. To see which employees are leaving, select the 'Turnover'
option on the Employee Data screen. After simulating your
decisions for 12 periods, your combined score for compliance and
effectiveness is your best measure for success in this
simulation. Use the 'ReSet
Sim' button to re-start the simulation.
